Matt removal is an extremely important consideration when wanting to keep a 'long length' coat for your dog. However, removing matts which are tight and severe can be very painful and distressing for the dog and in these cases it is just not possible to maintain length to the coat.
The coat must be completely free from any tangles, knots, and matting before bathing or clipping can begin.
The health and welfare of the dogs in my care always comes first. In the worst case scenario, the coat may need to be completely clipped off to remove severe matts. You will be asked to sign a consent form for this to take place and it will be discussed with you. Please remember that the coat will grow back and we can work together to ensure that the new coat stays matt free for future visits.
Home care is just as important as the groom itself and I will happily offer any advice that I believe will benefit you and your special friend.
Unfortunately, in extreme circumstances matt removal could incur additional charges. Matt removal is an intense procedure, it is very time consuming and requires the use of specialist products, it can also cause more wear and tear on equipment. Not to mention that the dog will often need to take extra rests, needing constant reassurance. Please contact us for an estimated cost for this procedure.
We NEVER de-matt puppies, infirm/elderly or aggressive dogs.
